The way I chose my project theme was by looking at two things: How much I knew about the project and how it helped, changed, history. So I looked at railroads and knew that the provided many jobs, made travel a lot easier, and by shipping products boosted the economy.
To complete my research I went three places: my local library, my school library, and online. On the internet I searched for hours and found many good facts but didn’t find many primary sources. So I went to my school library and researched and found one book that especially helped my research. Last I went to my local library and found two great books and a diary written by a German immigrant who laid tracks for a living.
I selected exhibit because I wanted to make something different then an essay on a piece of paper. I wanted to make learning about the railroads fun. I created my project by getting pieces to a train set and gluing them onto a poster board that had my work on it.
The railroad has to do with the NHD theme because it is the biggest innovation in history and made life easier for everyone.
